At home and abroad, the world is a fascinating place, a beautiful and exciting place, and I share my wonder and pleasure in travel on my blog--through experiences, photos, and books.
In honor of our upcoming birthday on July 4, 2013. The American Bald Eagle, our National Bird I took these photographs in Ketchikan, Alaska

Wendy, I went to Alaska and to Ketchikan 2 years ago; went out on the Bearing Sea crab boat and by an island where there were supposed to be eagles and never saw the first eagle while there or anywhere else in Alaska including Denali. Went bear watching, etc. so we were out and about - nothing. My sister had been to Alaska years before and said the eagles where like crows, they were everywhere - great photo. Sharon
We saw 1 moose in Denali but it was far, far away.
Went up to see the leaves change in Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Maine, etc. and everywhere were road signs saying "Beware of Moose," "Danger, Moose Crossing," "Accidents with Moose Kill," moose T-shirts everywhere. Never saw 1 moose. Stayed at a motel and the manager said "go down to this pond at 6Pm and the moose are everywhere, my wife go there all the time to see them." He gave us directions; we went; not 1 single moose. Sharon
We were up in the Dartmouth area. Moose signs all over. No moose. If a moose is so big an accident with it can kill you, how come a moose can camouflage itself as efficiently as a mouse?????

Thanks. I went looking for moose, but only once did I see one, and then only the rear end. Guess I will have to go back!
